Foundation Investments
and the Donor Relationship

Foundations at NHF with balances greater than $10,000 may participate in the investment program. In answer to questions about the investment of funds, we at NHF must repeat that ownership and control of the gift must pass irrevocably into the hands of the National Heritage Foundation. This constitutes a donation. Within that framework we may allow:

  • Placing investment recommendation authority in the hands of a Registered Investment Advisor of your choosing and the approval of the NHF Board of Directors.

  • Permitting that RIA to make trades and inform us immediately following doing so, or prior to doing so, with an explanation of why this is a wise investment decision.

NHF does not permit investment in any non-readily marketable securities. We also do not allow investments in which you own more than 5% of the equity, nor churning of the portfolio.

In regard to liquidation, you may recommend that NHF disburse the funds remaining in the foundation to a properly constituted public charity.
